(China Designing New Heavy-Lift Rockets
State Media in China announced it would be increasing the country's ability to put satellites and space stations into space. This new breed of rockets signals China’s move towards a greater space presence.

The new rockets, called Long March 5’s, will be used to deploy communications satellites and lunar probes. They will have a much greater lifting capacity than the current rockets. The new rockets are to be launch ready by 2013.

President of China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, Wu Yansheng said, "It will also give China the same launch capabilities as developed countries”. The announcements come just after last weeks successful launch of China’s first lunar probe. )

( Physicists Build Radio 10,000 Thinner than a Human Hair

UC Berkley physicists have designed a radio out of a single carbon nanotube. The radio is roughly 10,000 times smaller than a human hair. The radio can also receive both FM and AM broadcasts.

Professor Alex Zettl said the first song they played through the radio was "Layla" by Derek & the Dominos. Zettl said the radio was the first one ever built within nanotechnology size ranges (no bigger than 100 billionths of a meter).

Practical applications for such a device include cell phones, climate-monitoring systems and human bloodstream diagnostic probes. Zettl said, "Maybe the kids will be wearing these instead of iPods, inside their ears". )

( Girl, 9, Writes Apple With Idea, Gets Cease and Desist Order

9-year-old third grader Shea O'Gorman decided to write Apple for a class project meant to teach kids how to write letters, offering the suggestion that they add lyrics to their iPods - but ended up receiving a less-than-warm response from them.

When her family opened the much-anticipated response letter, "She was very upset. She kind of threw the letter up in the air and ran into her room and slammed the door," said her mother. Apple's lawyers told her they don't accept unsolicited ideas.

"It just wasn't the appropriate type of letter to send to a third grader who had the initiative to write to them," she added.

Shea said, "It kind of seemed like they were saying well we don't want your idea like it's not good or anything." )

( Apple Limiting iPhone Sales Per Person

Apple is seeking to stop iPhone resellers by limiting the sale of the gadget to just two per person. By limiting the number of phones each person can buy, Apple is hoping to reduce the sale of the iPhone on the grey market.

Apple's spokesperson Natalie Kerris said: "Customer response to the iPhone has been off the charts, and limiting iPhone sales... helps us ensure that there are enough iPhones for people who are shopping for themselves or buying a gift." )

( Girl Comes Out of Six-Year Coma After Taking Sleeping Pills
23-year-old Amy Pickard has come out of a coma she's been in since she was 17 due to an over-the-counter sleeping pill called Zolpidem. The drug's unique feature was discovered by accident 13 years ago when given to a comatose man to stop spasms.

She was about to give birth at 17 when the coma occurred, brought on by severe brain damage incurred from heroin use. An image of her in the hospital was used to discourage drug use. She can now stand up, focus on objects, and express emotion.

"She is changing and it is amazing. When she takes the pill, I see her face relax and the old sparkle return to her eyes. It's incredible. When I look at her now I can see the old Amy coming through, fighting to get out," said her mother, Thelma. )
